The winter season often sees a lot of frozen pipes, burst pipes, and other plumbing emergencies. It’s a good idea to prepare your pipes for the cold weather and be on the safe side. Here are five tips to prepare your pipes for winter.
Insulating exposed pipes is a simple yet effective way to protect them from freezing temperatures. Use pipe insulation foam to wrap pipes in unheated areas like basements, attics, or crawl spaces. This insulation creates a barrier between the cold air and the pipes to help maintain a warmer temperature and prevent freezing.
Pipe insulation not only protects your pipes from cold weather, but it also helps to prolong the lifespan of your pipes. If you need professional assistance with insulating your exposed pipes, contact Express Plumbing & Rooter. Our experts are committed to keeping your plumbing in top shape in order to save you money in the long run. We also provide reliable sewer repair services to keep your sewer line running smoothly.
Are there cracks or gaps around windows, doors, electrical systems, or other structures in your home? These openings can allow cold air to enter your home and warm air to escape. No one really gives much thought to these openings when the weather is warm, but they can be a serious threat to your pipes when winter arrives. It’s important to seal these cracks and gaps using caulk or weatherstripping to maintain consistent temperatures. You’ll not only protect your pipes from the cold weather, but you’ll also save money on utility bills.
This is the bare minimum you can do before the winter season arrives. A professional plumbing inspection can help identify potential issues before they escalate into major problems. A licensed plumber can assess your pipes, check for leaks, and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance before the cold weather sets in. They can also provide valuable advice on winterizing your home's plumbing.
If you’re looking for a reliable plumbing company to inspect your pipes for the cold weather, get in touch with Express Plumbing & Rooter. Our experts use top-of-the-line tools and equipment to inspect pipes in various locations, including under slabs and within walls. Express Plumbing & Rooter also offers trenchless sewer line replacement services. If your sewer line is old or made of unsafe materials, we’ll replace it without digging up your yard.
Outdoor plumbing is often overlooked during winterizing, but the cost of damage caused by frozen pipes can be significant. Our plumbers recommend disconnecting and draining all outdoor hoses to protect them from freezing. It’s also advisable to shut off water supply lines to outdoor faucets. These preventative measures ensure your outdoor plumbing remains safe through the cold weather. If you have outdoor spigots, cover them with insulated covers to provide extra protection.
Do you live in an older home with aging pipes? Consider replacing the pipes as part of your winterization plan. Older pipes, particularly those made of galvanized steel, are more susceptible to corrosion and leaks. Call a professional plumbing repair service to replace these pipes with modern, durable materials like PEX or copper, and you’ll significantly reduce the risk of water damage.
If you’re looking for professional plumbers to repair or replace your pipes, contact Express Plumbing & Rooter. We are a reputable plumbing contractor providing a full range of plumbing services, including pipe repair, sewer line cleaning, leak detection, video camera inspection, and more.

Let me tell you folks what I went through last night after I came home from a party I walked in my bathroom and saw the bathtub and toilet overflowing with black water so I immediately went online and found a company this company was express plumbing and router the girl on the phone was really really friendly and nice she assured me that my problem will be solved and I should have no worries the technician will be arriving in 60 to 90 minutes she told me well that was true because he was here in 45 minutes The technician came and unclog the drain for only amazing $55 when he came in to my house he was wearing booties so he said would not dirty my carpet that's a plus because I have white carpets in my house I would really recommend this company to my family and friends and whoever has a plumbing problem thank you express plumbing and rooter.
