As a homeowner, dealing with plumbing issues can be a nightmare. This is particularly true for older homes, as they are more susceptible to damage and malfunction. From clogged drains to leaky lines, these problems are not just a nuisance but also cause significant damage if left unattended. Fortunately, plumbing service providers use advanced technology to identify the cause, assess the extent of the damage, and recommend a suitable solution. At Express Plumbing & Rooter, we offer tailored video camera inspection services, eliminating guesswork and uncertainty associated with DIY methods. Here’s why a professional evaluation is a crucial investment for older homes.
Older homes often feature outdated pipe materials that have reached the end of their lifespan, such as cast iron, clay, or Orangeburg. If your home was built before the 1970s, then it is likely that it has outdated pipes, which are susceptible to corrosion and rust, root intrusion, and complete collapse if left unchecked. With plumbing lines running throughout your property, identifying signs of deterioration can be challenging, especially underground and within walls. That’s where video camera inspection comes in to eliminate uncertainty and enhance precision. A licensed plumber in Los Angeles can insert the specialized camera down the drain, identify the damage, and determine whether repair or repiping is necessary.
“Bellies,” also known as sags, are common sewer line issues caused by ground settling over many years. These low areas accumulate water and waste, causing frequent clogs and improper drainage. In severe cases, sagging pipes can contribute to sewage backups, compromising your home’s safety and comfort. If you frequently deal with these issues or detect sagging in exposed sewer lines, it may be time to call a professional plumbing service for an inspection. A video camera inspection not only pinpoints the sagging areas but also helps assess the severity of the issue before recommending repairs.
Historically, leak detection involved digging trenches or tearing down walls and destroying flooring. Although this approach still achieved the job done, it caused devastating damage and costly restorations. Furthermore, traditional methods increased the risk of damage to other areas, adding to the cost of repairs. A camera video inspection uses a flexible cable attached to a specialized camera at the tip to view the pipe’s interior without digging or property damage. This minimally invasive approach saves you thousands of dollars by eliminating guesswork and identifying targeted locations of a problem.
If you are looking to list your property for sale, the law requires a thorough home inspection before finalizing the deal. This is particularly important for properties over 20 years old, which may have outdated pipes or worn-out systems that need attention. A plumbing service company can conduct a thorough camera inspection that goes beyond a standard home assessment, giving buyers negotiating power if failing lines are discovered. Additionally, prioritizing pre-purchase due diligence can help you avoid hidden costs and ensure a higher return on investment (ROI).
According to plumbing service providers, older homes with mature landscaping require an annual or bi-annual checkup to detect early signs of root infiltration. Over time, tree roots can infiltrate old plumbing lines through cracks, loose connections, or breaks, leading to frequent blockages and costly emergency replacements. Even after cleaning and relining your pipes, a second video camera inspection can help confirm that the work is done right the first time.
In reality, investing in video camera inspections is not just about resolving the problem but also protecting your home, wallet, and peace of mind. Contact Express Plumbing & Rooter to enjoy the benefits of this revolutionary diagnosis technique.
