Pipe corrosion is a serious plumbing concern, especially if you live in an area with hard or acidic water. You should not wait until your pipes are completely corroded to take action. Corroded pipes can contaminate your water and pose the risk of water damage. There are preventive measures you can take to prevent pipe corrosion. In this article, Express Plumbing & Rooter provides you with tips for protecting your plumbing pipes from corrosion.

  • Pipe Lining

This is arguably the most effective technique for protecting your pipes from corrosion. It involves applying a protective lining to the interior and exterior of existing pipes, creating a barrier against corrosion. Epoxy coatings are a popular choice for pipe linings thanks to their chemical resistance properties. Pipe lining can significantly extend the lifespan of your pipes. Hire a professional plumbing service that offers quality pipe lining services to help you protect your pipes from corrosion.

  • Install A Water Softener

Hard water is one of the leading causes of pipe corrosion. The minerals present in hard water accumulate on the inner pipe walls, thereby accelerating pipe corrosion. Besides, the minerals can slightly increase the acidity of the water, which can weaken the pipes. Iron and steel pipes are particularly susceptible to corrosion from hard water. Consider installing a water softener if you have hard water. This appliance is designed to remove hardness-causing minerals from your water supply. Call a professional plumber to test your water to determine the hardness level and help you choose the right water softener for your home.

  • Maintain The Right Water Pressure

Excessively high water pressure puts a strain on your pipes, causing damage to the protective layers. While high pressure itself doesn't directly cause corrosion, it can act as a catalyst and worsen corrosion. If your pressure exceeds 80 psi, call an experienced plumbing repair service to find the root cause of the problem and provide you with a reliable solution.

What To Do If Your Pipes Are Corroded

You'll know your pipes are corroded if you're getting discolored water out of your faucets. You may also notice that the water has a metallic taste. If you have exposed pipes in your home, you might see visible signs of corrosion like rust or flaking on the metal surface. The most effective solution for corroded pipes is repiping the entire property, depending on the severity of the problem. Repiping involves replacing all or a significant portion of the existing plumbing pipes with new ones. When it's time to repipe your property, it's advisable to hire a trusted plumbing service with extensive industry experience to do the job.

Let me tell you folks what I went through last night after I came home from a party I walked in my bathroom and saw the bathtub and toilet overflowing with black water so I immediately went online and found a company this company was express plumbing and router the girl on the phone was really really friendly and nice she assured me that my problem will be solved and I should have no worries the technician will be arriving in 60 to 90 minutes she told me well that was true because he was here in 45 minutes  The technician came and unclog the drain for only amazing $55 when he came in to my house he was wearing booties so he said would not dirty my carpet that's a plus because I have white carpets in my house I would really recommend this company to my family and friends and whoever has a plumbing problem thank you express plumbing and rooter.
