Although they provide us with endless happiness and company, pets may often provide unforeseen difficulties, particularly when it comes to keeping the house tidy and functional. Pets can unintentionally cause a lot of trouble in the plumbing system. Our cherished pets, from inquisitive cats to energetic pups, can occasionally cause havoc on our drains and pipes. However, you can shield your plumbing from your animal pals with a little planning ahead and precaution.

In this blog post, our professionals from Express Plumbing & Rooter will explore some tips on how to protect your plumbing from your pets.

Understanding the Risks

It's important to comprehend the potential threats that pets may offer to your plumbing system before taking any precautionary action. Water sources, including sinks and toilets, can attract pets, particularly dogs and cats. In addition, they may nibble on hoses, pipes, and other plumbing fittings, causing clogs or leaks. Furthermore, over time, pet hair buildup in drains can result in obstructions. The first step in reducing these hazards is being aware of them.

Supervision and Training

Proper supervision and training are two of the best methods to keep your pets away from your plumbing. Teach your dogs to stay away from places with exposed plumbing equipment or pipelines. When they are near water sources, keep a watchful eye on them to prevent any unwanted investigation or mischief. Pet-related plumbing problems can be significantly reduced with consistent training and good reinforcement.

Invest in Pet-Friendly Fixtures

To reduce the chance that your plumbing system may sustain damage from your pets, think about making an investment in pet-friendly fittings. To stop pets from getting to the toilet bowl, for instance, consider installing toilet lid locks. Additionally, to lessen the chance of unintentional flooding brought on by curious pets, you can install specialty outdoor faucets with sensors integrated into the design that turn off automatically when not in use.

Secure Exposed Pipes and Hoses

Pets are known for chewing on whatever they can get their paws on, including hoses and pipes. This is especially true with puppies and kittens. Install insulation or protective covers on any exposed pipes or hoses to stop this behavior from harming your plumbing system. By keeping your pets from consuming dangerous substances, this not only safeguards your plumbing but also their safety.

Regular Maintenance

Maintaining your plumbing system on a regular basis is essential, particularly if you have dogs in the house. Make an appointment for a routine examination with a licensed plumber to look for evidence of pet-related wear and tear or damage. A plumbing service can see such problems early on and fix them before they become more serious and expensive to repair.

Addressing Pet Hair

One of the most prevalent causes of clogged pipes and drains is pet hair. Purchase drain covers or bathtub and sink strainers to capture pet hair before it gets a chance to build up in your plumbing system. Additionally, to guarantee appropriate drainage, develop the practice of routinely clearing out these covers.

Conclusion

Even while they provide us with endless happiness and companionship, they can also provide difficulties in keeping our homes functional. You can defend your plumbing from your furry friends by being aware of the threats they bring to it and putting preventative measures in place including supervision, training, and routine maintenance. Never hesitate to call a licensed plumber or plumbing repair service for assistance if your pets are causing plumbing problems so that the issue may be resolved quickly and efficiently. You may enjoy your pets' company without worrying about possible plumbing mishaps if you keep these ideas in mind.

Let me tell you folks what I went through last night after I came home from a party I walked in my bathroom and saw the bathtub and toilet overflowing with black water so I immediately went online and found a company this company was express plumbing and router the girl on the phone was really really friendly and nice she assured me that my problem will be solved and I should have no worries the technician will be arriving in 60 to 90 minutes she told me well that was true because he was here in 45 minutes  The technician came and unclog the drain for only amazing $55 when he came in to my house he was wearing booties so he said would not dirty my carpet that's a plus because I have white carpets in my house I would really recommend this company to my family and friends and whoever has a plumbing problem thank you express plumbing and rooter.
